1.     Garden State Roots — Since 1913

New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company covers more than 730,000 vehicles, with approximately 97% of our premiums derived from New Jersey policies. Roughly 2,400 employees service our policyholders. For nearly a century, NJM has served policyholders and accepted new customers, regardless of market conditions.

2.
Mutual Respect

NJM operates in a mutual fashion, for the exclusive, long-term benefit of our policyholders. There are no stockholders whose concern about their own profits can conflict with a policyholder’s interest in receiving exemplary service and fair claims handling. In fact, we are a service organization, not just another insurance company.

Our financial strength earns NJM an A++ ( Superior ) rating from A.M. Best Company, the nation’s premier insurance-rating agency – a sign of security that policyholders can trust. Due to careful stewardship, NJM is consistently ranked nationally as one of the best insurers in managing expenses, spending just 11¢ per premium dollar on administrative costs. That’s less than half the 25¢ industry average.

3.
History of Dividends

The financial benefit of our prudent business operation has been returned directly to policyholders through the payment of dividends in every year since 1918. More than $4.5 billion of dividends have been paid during that time, and with the Special Dividend declared in 2007, more than $132 million was given back to NJM's personal auto policyholders this year alone.

4.
Unparalleled Premiums

NJM policies run for a full year – not just six months, the way most other auto insurers issue coverage. Our way lets you know your rates will be stable for the entire 12 months. Issuing two policies a year gives other carriers twice as many opportunities to increase premiums.

In 2006, NJM's average annual premium per car was only $944 compared with the statewide average of all insurers of $1,099, as calculated by the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI). But after receiving Special Regular Dividends for that year, the net cost for an NJM policyholder was just $812 per car.

We achieve this because we do not use costly television, radio or sports event sponsorships for advertising. Also, we are a direct writer, relying on our own salaried staff to serve policyholders instead of paying sales commissions to agents.

5.
We're at Your Service

NJM’s Personal Lines and Claims staffs are New Jersey and Pennsylvania experts dedicated to your needs, and are available at any of our three offices or by toll-free telephone. Instead of commissions based on their insurance sales, our licensed agents earn straight salary. (In fact, even top executives work for regular salary – no company cars, performance bonuses, tickets to sports events, club memberships, etc.)

In addition to finishing at the top in a reader survey by a national consumer magazine in 2006, the entire NJM Insurance Group has consistently drawn low levels of valid complaints at the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (NJDOBI) since statistics began in 1987. This includes registering zero valid complaints in the 2006 report.

Claims reporting and emergency service are available on a 24-hour basis. In addition, NJM utilizes our own Premier Car Care network of qualified garages, body shops, glass shops and car-rental agencies. While our customers are always free to choose their own service providers, these quality options enhance NJM’s ability to deliver prompt and efficient claims handling.

6.
No “Sticker Shock”

NJM doesn’t increase rates after minor incidents – we realize that even the best drivers make occasional mistakes. However, if a policyholder leaves NJM and reapplies later, that customer would still have to meet our underwriting criteria.

7.
Another Year, Another Renewal . . .

An insurance contract is a two-way street: the policyholder and the Company trust each other to fulfill their promises. The strength of this relationship is best measured by its long-term stability. In 2006, NJM terminated less than 1% of our insurance contacts due to adverse underwriting reasons.

New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company is grateful to the hundreds of thousands of policyholders who have trusted us for years – many for decades – to provide them with top-quality auto insurance.
