NJM Board Approves Hammonton Facility

WEST TRENTON, N.J. — The Board of Directors of New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company (NJM) has authorized the construction of a 142,000-square-foot building on approximately 56 acres of undeveloped land purchased at the Hammonton Street Industrial Park, fronting Route 54 in Hammonton. This is the initial phase of NJM's new Hammonton campus, with office space that ultimately could nearly double in size.

Construction is planned to begin next year with expected completion and occupancy in late 2010. Like NJM's other offices in West Trenton and Parsippany, the new facility is designed to fit in with its surroundings and be a positive symbol in the community. The Company has maintained a South Jersey office in Hammonton since 2000, starting with a staff of 20 and growing in small steps to now number 180 employees.

The current leased facility at the Atlantic Commerce Center at 1001 South Grand Street houses staff for NJM's Personal Lines Call Center, Workers' Compensation Claims, General Claims including First Reports and Personal Injury Protection (PIP), the Sales Department, and fraud investigators in the Special Investigations Unit (SIU). The leased facility has room for growth if space is needed during construction of the permanent office.

The new building will be designed to complement the adjacent community. It will be configured in a way that supports future expansion in an efficient and minimally disruptive manner. Environmentally responsible strategies make certain the facility respects principles of conservation. For example, cooling, heating and lighting systems are selected for top efficiency, while computer controls and central monitoring ensure against wasted usage of energy.

The initial structure has been planned to accommodate up to 330 employees on a daily basis, with actual growth in employee population dependent upon staffing necessary to efficiently serve the needs of policyholders. The design also contemplates that if service requirements point toward additional expansion, the facility can be built out to as much as 250,000 square feet – all in a cost-effective fashion with minimal effect on regular operations.

The Route 54 location provides easy access for employees and business visitors via the Atlantic City Expressway, Routes 206 and 30, and other major roadways. Besides enhancing our presence for South Jersey policyholders in particular and customers overall, the new building will feature a branch of NJM Bank, with a drive-through ATM available.

In addition to Hammonton's convenient location, the exceptional individuals that NJM has encountered there have convinced management that a larger, permanent facility is the right move, said Anthony G. Dickson, NJM's President and Chief Executive Officer.

"We selected Hammonton because of the people. It's a great place for hiring talented professionals, with good schools and excellent cooperation from local officials," Dickson said. "We look forward to becoming even better neighbors."
