What to do after a loss:

  • Call NJM to report your claim as soon as possible when an event occurs.
  • Protect your property from further damage.
  • Make necessary emergency repairs to your covered property to protect it from further loss (cost of the repairs may be reimbursed by insurance as long as the damage resulted from a covered peril and are subject to applicable coverage limits).
  • Take photos of the damaged areas.
  • Keep accurate records of repair expenses.
  • Prepare an inventory of damaged or stolen property showing the quantity, description, actual cash value and the amount of the loss.
  • Keep track of bills, receipts, and related documents.
