Basic Auto Policy
If you currently have a registered automobile in New Jersey with no Personal Auto insurance and you are only interested in obtaining very limited coverage that satisfies the State's minimum legal requirements, you may wish to consider obtaining a "Basic Policy."
The Basic Policy will provide much less coverage for medical bills arising out of an accident. Instead of having the ability to purchase medical coverage up to $250,000 per person per accident as permitted by the "Standard Policy," the Basic Policy offers a maximum of $15,000 for non-catastrophic medical expenses. The Basic Policy also provides much less coverage in case you are liable for someone else's bodily injury or property damage. The lower limit of insurance coverage is designed to hold down the insurance premium.
The Basic Policy should be considered by those with few family responsibilities and few real assets. It can provide a transition for younger drivers who are just beginning work, providing a basic, minimum protection at a time when they may be least able to afford the cost of a broader level of coverage.
For the NJM Insurance Group, the Basic Policy is written exclusively by New Jersey Re-Insurance Company.
More information will be provided with your forms in the mail.
