This video program, which has been endorsed by the National Society to Prevent Blindness, illustrates numerous examples of eye protection which can and should be worn on the job, at home, and during recreational activities. Many types of eye protection are illustrated depending on the type of protection required. This program clearly emphasizes the fact that, while eye protection is extremely important on the job, it can also be just as important at home. (7 Minutes)

SUMMER SAFETY —
This video program provides an excellent summary of some of the hazards that employees and their families will face during the summer months. The topics covered are: 1) Water safety to prevent drownings, 2) Sunburn and its treatment, 3) Snake bites and their treatment, 4) Insect bites, stings and their treatment, and 5) Poison ivy, poison oak, and how to care for it. Although some of the topics may have applications to the work place, this program provides a nice overview of appropriate family safety topics for the summer months. (10 Minutes)

GROUNDS KEEPING: LAWN MOWER SAFETY —
This video is geared towards both the home and work environments. It discusses the sources of injury and how to prevent them through use of proper clothing and personal protective equipment. Basic guidelines are reviewed such as checking safety features, disabling mower before adjustments are made, fueling, checking area to be mowed for debris and general riding, and push mower safety tips. This video begins with a review of the four types of heat exposure: heat rash, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. What to do to prevent heat stress is then covered. In this humorous edition of "Tool Talk" with"Tom the Tool Fool Thompson" and "Bob" as the hosts, a discussion of portable hand tools is the topic. They discuss how to carry tools properly, how to pass hand tools safely, and always using the proper tool for the job. They review always wearing the proper personal protective equipment and using tools correctly for their intended purpose. Inspection and proper use of shock tools is covered, as well as the ergonomic issues associated with hand tools. Finally, spark resistant tools are discussed. (9:03 Minutes)

ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD AWARENESS —
Electromagnetic Fields - EMFs - where do they come from and are they affecting your health? There are no current standards for EMFs, however, the video discusses one guideline being used on a voluntary basis. This guideline sets an average exposure limit of 5,000 milligauss. The video demonstrates where some examples of work tools/equipment and home appliances fall into the guideline. Positioning equipment away from the body reduces exposure. Since there is no conclusive evidence regarding EMFs using prudent avoidance is recommended. (4:25 Minutes)

STRESS IN THE WORKPLACE —
Stress can affect your health. The common signs stress is building up can include headaches and depression. These warning signals should be taken seriously. Cumulative stress can lead to severe problems. The best defense is early recognition and treatment through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). Steps to take include talking to someone to try to determine the stressors in your life which you can do something about. The next step is to change your reaction to those stressors. The video explains EAPs, stress management and relaxation techniques. (7:43 Minutes)

TAKE HOME TOXICS —
Lead, cadmium, pesticides and asbestos are all examples of chemicals that can affect your health. The video discusses exposure through ingestion, inhalation, and/or absorption. Some chemicals may take years to show outward effects. How an employee can affect their family is emphasized. Preventative measures include checking MSDSs, using vacuums at work, using locker room spaces, keeping work and street clothes separate, being aware of designated smoking and eating areas, limiting contact with dirty work clothes, and using good hygiene and personal protective equipment. – Fire Marshall "Bob" is on an inspection, checking for hazards in the home. Smoke detector locations, electrical hazards, fireplace hazards, kitchen concerns and portable heaters are discussed. Having a fire extinguisher in the home, how to use a fire extinguisher using the PASS method (Pull–Aim–Squeeze–Spray), knowing your emergency telephone numbers and having family fire drills are reviewed.
