BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS —
AIDS and Hepatitis B are two bloodborne diseases which are causing increasing concern in the workplace. This problem should not be overdramatized but cannot be ignored. There are simple methods of reducing the risk of exposure in the workplace. This program will define what is a bloodborne pathogen. It will describe Hepatitis B and HIV and how they can and cannot be transmitted. Discussion will be given to reduce the hazards in the workplace and what employees can do to reduce their risk of exposure by using universal precautions. Personal protective equipment is discussed and employees are shown what to do if a workplace incident occurs in which they may possibly be exposed to a bloodborne disease. (12 Minutes)

BASIC FIRST AID —
Employees should know what to do if a coworker is injured or becomes ill. Who should you notify and what are company procedures? When an injured employee is identified, what steps are to be taken, including identifying hazards in the area, approaching the coworker and getting help are reviewed. The ABC medical priorities are shown: airway, breathing, and circulation. What to do if a person is unconscious, falls, or is bleeding is covered. - This video is good for general industry training. It begins with an explanation of what a bloodborne pathogen is, and describes Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Explained are how bloodborne pathogens enter the body, how to clean up a spill and proper disposal procedures, using universal precautions, personal protective equipment (PPE), what to do if a coworker is injured, proper removal of gloves, clean up of contaminated clothing and waste, the importance of hand washing and Hepatitis B testing.
