THINK QUICKSAND: SAFETY AROUND BINS, HOPPERS & STOCK PILES —
This video emphasizes correct operating procedures which should be followed when working around stock piles, storage bins and hoppers. It also points out safety techniques to be used when clearing jams in hoppers, including lockout procedures, safety harnesses, warning signals, etc. The videotape clearly points out how materials which are contained within hoppers can act like quicksand and bury employees alive if they are not following correct procedures. (10 Minutes)

#285
WORKING IN CONFINED SPACES —
This video program addresses many of the hazards which are associated with confined spaces. Those hazards include mechanical equipment, noise, temperature extremes, fire, toxic fumes and oxygen deficiency. It emphasizes the need for use of personal protective equipment so that employees can enter a confined space safely, work safely and exit safely. Considerable time is spent emphasizing the need to monitor the atmosphere within the confined space for oxygen deficiency as well as explosive levels of fumes and toxic gases. The need for proper rescue procedures is also explained. (13 Minutes)

#444
WORKING IN CONFINED SPACES —
This video defines confined spaces, permit-required confined spaces and three types of hazardous atmospheric conditions. It reviews typical steps to follow in a confined space program including safe operating plans, entry permits, monitoring, working with a partner, communication methods, evacuation, and what to do if a monitor's alarm sound. The role of an attendant during confined space entry is emphasized. (9:03 Minutes)

#477
WHY PERMITS ARE IMPORTANT —
The importance of the permit system is reviewed. A “what can go wrong” scenario is played out. All responsibility that signing off on a permit details are covered. This should include evaluating the site, equipment and hazards, making sure conditions are safe, and workers are trained, securing the area and using the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). (9:04 Minutes)

CONFINED SPACES: YOUR TRAINING —
Over half of the people who died in confined spaces were rescuing others. Permit required confined spaces contain many hazards. Your company should provide a written program and hands-on training if you are required to enter these spaces. Elements of a written program are discussed, as well as the basic outline of the actual permit used. Testing and evaluation of the atmosphere, ventilating the space, types of monitoring, attendant duties and symptoms of exposure are discussed. This is a good refresher training video which provides a general outline of confined space entry. (8:01 Minutes)

#507
CONFINED SPACE: USING CHEMICALS —
Using hazardous materials in a confined space presents a serious hazard. This video reviews atmospheric testing for oxygen, flammables, and toxic materials. Permissible exposure limits are also discussed. Protection from airborne contaminants through the use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), air purifying respirators, supplied air respirators, and powered air purifying respirators is reviewed. (8:59 Minutes)

#524
CONFINED SPACE: AIR MONITORING —
This video discusses OSHA’s air monitoring requirements. Steps reviewed include identifying hazards, implementing air monitoring procedures, continuous monitoring by entry team, determining the proper instrument to use, profile readings at high, medium, and low levels, and monitoring with ventilation turned off. Also discussed are direct reading instruments (DRIs) and lower explosive limits (LELs), and why readings are taken in certain order. (10:38 Minutes)
