A review of ear function and how noise can hurt you introduces the video. It shows how your hearing is damaged and how hearing loss affects other parts of the body. How to protect yourself through proper use of hearing protection, different types of protection, and what Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) means. A brief review of what OSHA requires is covered and off-the-job safety is also emphasized. (6:21 Minutes)

HEARING PROTECTION: HLP & PPE —
This video emphasizes that noise induced hearing loss is permanent but preventable. It reviews the OSHA regulations and defines what employers are required to do. This includes providing hearing protection, training, establishing baseline audiograms, and performing annual audiograms. The video explains what an audiogram tells you and also how it is compared to the baseline audiogram. The three types of PPE are defined: 1) ear plugs, 2) canal caps and 3) ear muffs. How to wear and check for proper installation is covered, as well as the care and maintenance for all types of protection. (10:46 Minutes)
