program illustrates important safety procedures for the correct operation
and maintenance of warehouse equipment. Proper techniques for handling
equipment on loading docks are illustrated to include checking trailer
wheels, inspecting dock boards, working inside a railcar, and operating
forklifts. Safety rules for stacking and picking orders are reviewed as
well as tips for the safe operation of hoist and conveyors. Also illustrated
is the need for warehouse workers to wear the appropriate personal protective
equipment for the job. Safety precautions for chemical exposures in the

SAFETY OF THE JOB: MANUAL LOAD HANDLING IN THE WAREHOUSE — This
video presents the “do’s “ and “don’t’s”
of warehouse activities and shows workers how to handle products safely
and efficiently. It describes how to correctly inspect the load and check
it for weight, nails, sharp edges, weak bottoms or leaks. The correct and
incorrect way of lifting a load is illustrated. Also covered are special
tools in the warehouse which include two-wheeled hand trucks, manual pallet
trucks, stockpiling ladders and box cutters. Observance of no-smoking
rules, keeping the area clean , and making sure exits are never blocked.
Finally, the serious dangers of working under the influence of alcohol
and drugs are discussed.(12 Minutes)
