We know you have a lot on your plate right now, and we can help take away some of your stress by making it easy to get the protection you need as your living situation changes. Insurance, while very important in protecting your assets, should be the least of your worries.

Staying in Your Current Home

If your plan is to remain at your current residence, we can have a discussion with you to help determine the coverage you need, and to see if we are able to change your existing policies or if we should write a brand new policy, to reflect you as the sole driver and/or homeowner.

Moving to a New Location

If you’ll be moving to a new location, we can help you make your move a whole lot easier. We can make sure you have the protection you need to cover your new home, as well as all the items you'll be packing up and moving with you.

We offer homeowners, condo-owners and renters insurance policies with a broad variety of coverage selections and endorsements to suit your specific needs. Coverage will protect your items whether they’re in transit, or already moved into your new home.

Car Insurance Considerations

Believe it or not, the car insurance coverage you need can change if your marital status or living situation changes. This is especially important regarding the medical portion of your policy. New Jersey car insurance consumers have an option on their policies to authorize car accident-related medical expenses to be covered either by their car insurance policies or by their health insurers.

If you are no longer covered on someone else’s health insurance, you should contact NJM to see how your car insurance policy is set up, and make any coverage changes that are appropriate for your individual needs.

Some Friendly Reminders

Here are some other things you might want to consider doing as you embark upon this new chapter of your life:

  • Go through your “stuff” — Look at all the items in every room of your home. Decide what you will keep, and if there's anything you might want to part with. Now’s the time to condense and consolidate! Also, consider the value of the items — there may be special homeowners endorsements available to you for certain items of extra value.

  • Research moving companies (if applicable) — Get on-site estimates in writing. Don’t rely on over-the-phone quotes.

  • Change of address (if applicable) and place accounts in your name only — Contact your public utilities, cable/internet providers, credit card companies, banks, post office, Motor Vehicle Commission and your employer’s H.R. Department.

  • Refill your prescriptions (if applicable) — Things like this can easily get lost in the shuffle.
