NJM Wins "New Good Neighbor" Award

New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company has won the "New Good Neighbor" Award for its 147,000-square-foot facility in Hammonton that opened in December 2010. The 56-acre facility houses about 200 employees and the third branch of NJM Bank.

The award, presented by the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) annually for more than 50 years, honors new or renovated commercial facilities in the State that enhance New Jersey's business climate for employers, employees, customers and their respective local communities.

NJM was nominated for the New Good Neighbor Award by Hammonton Mayor Steven DiDonato, who lauded the Company's "extraordinary planning and design efforts on behalf of the community; the strong example of corporate citizenship; attention to quality and value; and NJM's outstanding reputation."

Work began on the site in April 2009 and resulted in approximately 650 construction jobs. Gale Construction, Roseland, served as construction manager. HDR (formerly CUH2A), Lawrenceville, was the project architect. Burgis Associates, Westwood, was the project planner. L2A Land Design of Englewood provided civil-engineering services.

Storm water management for the site was of particular concern with the Pinelands Commission. The project's geotechnical engineer, Princeton Hydro, Ringoes, adeptly handled those issues, designing retention basins for maximum return of water to the aquifers. Other environmentally friendly features of the project include modern lighting design techniques with efficient fixtures, control systems and day-lighting to reduce electrical loads.

For nearly a century, NJM has controlled costs effectively by locating employees in central offices. With this third major office in South Jersey, NJM can attract and retain talented, committed local employees in this growing region of the state. The new building also enhances the back-up and emergency systems necessary to deliver prompt claims service to NJM policyholders during times of greatest need.

NJM is the Garden State's largest provider of Personal Auto and Workers' Compensation insurance, and a prominent carrier of Commercial Auto and Homeowners coverage. NJM shares the benefits of its prudent operations in the form of dividends to policyholders. Since 1918, more than $5 billion has been returned to policyholders.

NJM Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Insurance Company. It provides loans and deposit accounts to businesses and consumers throughout the state.

With a total of almost 2,500 employees, NJM has its headquarters in West Trenton (Mercer County) and also maintains a North Jersey Office in Parsippany (Morris County).
