PHILADELPHIA, PA and WEST TRENTON, NJ — NJM Insurance Company, nationally recognized for its commitment to customer satisfaction, announced today that it has expanded its 104-year-old brand into the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, effective January 1.
After more than a century as New Jersey's insurer, NJM has expanded its presence to make its full line of products and services available in Pennsylvania, whose residents can now access NJM's distinguished brand of personal and commercial lines insurance — a brand known for its superior customer service and commitment to operating exclusively for its policyholders, in the true mutual spirit. NJM's expanded personal insurance offerings in the State include automobile, homeowners, condo, renters, umbrella, motorcycle, boat, and collector car coverage.
"Since our inception, NJM has been dedicated to fulfilling the insurance needs of our customers," said Bernie Flynn, NJM President & CEO. "NJM is unique. We were founded in 1913 by policyholders for policyholders, and we have maintained a special relationship with them ever since — operating exclusively in their interests. We're thrilled to bring our legacy to the Pennsylvania marketplace, giving consumers more choice and the comfort of knowing that we only serve policyholders, not stockholders like so many of our competitors."
NJM maintains a financial strength rating of A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best, the nation's oldest and most widely recognized rating agency dedicated to the insurance industry. NJM is among only 11.5 percent of rated insurers to receive a Superior rating. Operating as a true mutual insurer, it shares this financial success with policyholders through competitive rates, extraordinary value, and superior customer service — a fact which has been repeatedly recognized by leading consumer publications and market research firms that base their results exclusively on customer feedback.
One of NJM's core values is to support the communities it's privileged to serve. NJM has been fortunate to assist hundreds of nonprofits in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including food banks, after-school programs, and financial literacy groups through monetary donations and commitments of time and resources. Employees are encouraged to use up to eight hours of excused time each year to volunteer at a nonprofit, and the Company matches its employees' charitable donations up to $1,000 annually.
NJM is also deeply involved in promoting teen driver safety. In honor of its 100th anniversary in 2013, it launched a complimentary teen driver safety program for all high schools in New Jersey. The program, which has already reached more than 105,000 students, covers topics like distracted, fatigued, and impaired driving, as well as Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) laws. In 2016, this evolving program was recognized by the National Safety Council with its Teen Driver Safety Leadership Award. This coveted honor recognizes organizations that work to improve teen driver safety and save lives through dedicated community outreach and innovative educational programming. Plans are already underway to provide this award-winning program to high schools in Pennsylvania, at no cost, mirroring the Company's commitment to safety in New Jersey.
"I've been insured with NJM since I started driving over 50 years ago," said Dennis Burke, whose parents were NJM policyholders before him. "I'm amazed at the service I receive each time I have an interaction with them. I’ve always felt like NJM customers were part of a big family. When my children needed their own insurance, NJM was only the company I recommended."
