NJM and the Trenton Thunder - The Capital City's All-Star Team
Two of Trenton's strongest advocates ink five-year deal on eve of beloved baseball club's silver anniversary

WEST TRENTON, NJ — NJM Insurance Company, one of New Jersey's leading insurers, announced today that, beginning next year, it will be the Presenting Partner of the Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. The partnership builds on an already strong relationship that has seen the two collaborate on several local community outreach and charitable giving initiatives throughout the years.
"NJM is fortunate to have been able to work alongside the Trenton Thunder for many years on projects that support the communities we are privileged to serve," said Bernie Flynn, NJM President & CEO. "To become the Thunder's first-ever Presenting Partner, more closely aligning our brands, is a natural evolution for two organizations committed to the city of Trenton."
Since 2012, NJM has combined with the Thunder to donate more than $88,700 to Trenton-area organizations through the "Safe at Home" project in which NJM makes a financial contribution to a different nonprofit each year based on the number of runs the Thunder score at ARM & HAMMER Park. Additionally, for the past nine seasons, NJM has supported the Thunder's Special Olympics Night at the ballpark by hosting an NJM friends and family event, and donating five dollars for every ticket purchased by NJM employees to the Special Olympics of New Jersey (SONJ). Over the past five seasons, SONJ has received over $32,000 as a result of this event.
The Presenting Partnership agreement reaffirms the commitment of both organizations to Trenton, and establishes NJM as the exclusive insurance company sponsor for the Trenton Thunder. "The Thunder is committed to the Trenton region and its residents, which is a purpose we share with NJM, whose dedication to community service is embedded in its history," said Jeff Hurley, Trenton Thunder General Manager. "Season after season, NJM has been a great corporate partner. And as we line up to celebrate the 25th season of the Thunder, we're excited and proud to display the NJM brand next to ours."
"There's momentum building in the capital city, and the expansion of this partnership is one more example of its emerging renaissance," said George Sowa, CEO of Greater Trenton, a nonprofit founded in 2015 to help revitalize the Trenton downtown core and its surrounding region. "NJM has taken a leading role in our city's redevelopment efforts by supporting Greater Trenton through its financial and human resources, with Bernie Flynn serving as our co-chair. The Thunder have also played a key role in supporting this community, providing a first-class entertainment experience to nearly two generations of baseball fans. This partnership reinforces our belief that collaboration among invested stakeholders is a powerful agent for economic prosperity."
