April 25, 2014

WEST TRENTON, NJ — NJM has been named the recipient of the 2014 Outstanding Corporation Award by the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-NJ). NJM will be honored on May 16 at the 33rd Annual Excellence in Philanthropy Awards at the Pines Manor in Edison, NJ.

Since 1981, AFP-NJ's Excellence in Philanthropy Awards have recognized the achievements of some of the state's most notable corporations, citizens and organizations who have helped make New Jersey a better place to live through the dedication of their resources, time and talent.

NJM has a long history of supporting the communities in which our policyholders and employees live and work. Just over the past 12 months, NJM has:

  • Donated 55 state-of-the-art driving simulators to high schools across New Jersey;

  • Undertaken a DNT TXT and DRV (Don't Text and Drive) campaign, in which NJM collected 50,000 signatures from people who promised not to text while driving. For each pledge received, NJM donated $1.00 to charity;

  • Supported the Special Olympics of New Jersey and committed to be a major sponsor of the Special Olympics 2014 USA Games to be held in New Jersey later this year;

  • Allotted employees time to volunteer to worthy organizations across the state, including: Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK); Junior Achievement; Children's Home Society; and the Sunshine Foundation, among others.

Based in West Trenton with branch offices in Parsippany and Hammonton, NJM conducts more than 98% of its business in New Jersey, with the rest mainly in Pennsylvania. Dedicated exclusively to the benefit of policyholders, NJM has returned more than $5.5 billion in policyholder dividends since 1918.

In addition to personal auto insurance, NJM is by far the leading provider of workers' compensation coverage in New Jersey. NJM also offers commercial auto, homeowners, flood and umbrella insurance. Eligibility to apply is restricted to individuals (or spouses) who work for a company that is a member of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) or for the State of New Jersey or those who were previously insured under an NJM policy.
