Award promotes workplace safety and celebrates NJM's centennial membership in the National Safety Council

WEST TRENTON, NJ — NJM Insurance Group (NJM), a leading property casualty insurer in the Mid‐Atlantic region, is sponsoring a scholarship program for graduating seniors of Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT). The scholarship aims to promote workplace safety, as the Company celebrates its 100th anniversary as a member of the National Safety Council (NSC). Scholarship applications will be accepted at BCIT through April 1, 2020.

"NJM has been protecting employees for over 100 years. Ensuring that the next generation can acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to remain safe in the workplace is of the utmost importance," said Tracy McManimon, SVP & Chief Underwriting Officer of NJM. "We are proud to support the students who continuously demonstrate their commitment to safety and learning. Technical schools like BCIT are instrumental to the success of key industries in our region."

BCIT services Burlington County, New Jersey's largest county, with campuses in Medford and Westampton. The institute offers a robust course curriculum and apprenticeship programs in key industries. Last December, BCIT's Adult Education program achieved Middle States Accreditation, validating the school's quality, student achievement, and commitment to adult education.

"The Burlington County Institute of Technology is proud to partner with New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company. BCIT is appreciative of NJM's commitment to safety, advisory support, and generous scholarship opportunities for secondary students transitioning from school to career." Dr. Lisa J. English, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.

NJM will award $10,000 in scholarships to high school seniors continuing their technical training at BCIT in the fields of manufacturing, architecture and construction, health sciences, transportation, distribution, and logistics. This financial investment will help cover the cost of tuition and safety training. The scholarship, established to commemorate 100 years of NSC membership, underscores NJM's commitment to workplace safety and community development.

"Our member companies understand that safety is the guardian of the future, and investing in the next generation of safety leaders is critical," said Ingrid Schoen, Senior Director of Membership at the National Safety Council. "We applaud NJM for this effort and look forward to watching the scholarship recipients kick off careers in safety."

Eligible students must be graduating seniors at BCIT seeking post‐secondary training in the areas specified above. In line with NJM's longstanding commitment to workplace safety, applying students must demonstrate safety best practices aligned with their trade and OSHA requirements.
