NJM Insurance Group Earns CEO Cancer Gold Standard Re-Accreditation

July 19, 2016

WEST TRENTON, NJ — NJM Insurance Company, New Jersey's leading property-casualty insurer, has earned CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ re-accreditation for the third consecutive year, reflecting the Company's strong commitment to the health of its employees and satisfying the latest, comprehensive requirements of the Gold Standard.

The CEO Roundtable on Cancer, a nonprofit organization of CEOs, founded by former President George H.W. Bush, developed and administers the Gold Standard, an employee wellness accreditation program that addresses cancer in the workplace. Nearly 200 private, nonprofit and government employers in a wide range of occupational categories have earned Gold Standard accreditation, including the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and a number of NCI-designated cancer centers.

"We're very pleased to be recognized for our efforts and honored to receive the CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ re-accreditation," said Bernie Flynn, NJM President & CEO. "As a customer service-driven company, our most valuable resource is our employees. With initiatives such as a tobacco-free workplace, incentives that encourage our staff to choose healthy lifestyle habits, and sponsoring early detection screenings, NJM takes a proactive approach in supporting the overall wellness of our employees and efforts to reduce the risk of cancer."

To earn and maintain CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ accreditation, an employer must meet specific requirements in corporate culture and health benefits: establishing policies and programs to reduce cancer risk by prohibiting tobacco use and supporting tobacco cessation efforts; promoting physical activity, healthy nutrition and weight management; providing health insurance options that include early cancer detection, access to quality care, and participation in clinical trials; promoting employee awareness of these initiatives; and supporting the needs of cancer survivors in the workplace.
