Conaway Leading NJM’s Efforts Against Fraud
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) at NJM has been fighting insurance fraud for over 50 years. Patrick Conaway is now leading the charge, following the retirement of his accomplished predecessor, Loni Hand. Conaway’s primary objective is to support our policyholders by making sure we pay legitimate claims, while preventing and detecting fraudulent cases.
“Loni left big shoes to fill, and I am truly honored to manage such a talented and dedicated team,” said Conaway, who has been with NJM since 1998 and joined the SIU in 2000. “The SIU operates to protect policyholder assets and NJM’s reputation for excellence by aggressively fighting fraud in a manner consistent with NJM’s core values of stewardship, integrity, and service.”
The SIU is comprised of seasoned investigators and analysts with diverse experience in law enforcement, insurance, and specialty sectors. The unit is employing advanced data analytics to help predict and disrupt fraud schemes in their early stages.
NJM’s SIU:
- Manages 100% of referrals with a collaborative approach that supports NJM claim representatives, attorneys, and policyholders to mitigate exposure to insurance fraud
- Ensures investigative resources are used efficiently to maximize value and meet high-quality standards
- Engages with NJM policyholders to provide consultation, investigative case reviews, and training to support anti-fraud efforts
- Communicates with state and local law enforcement agencies and advocates on behalf of NJM policyholders
