Chris Malone

Named a top business leader for 2022 by South Jersey Biz magazine for helping to guide the company into new frontiers.

Chris Malone has served as Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of NJM Insurance Company since March 2019.

Under his financial stewardship, NJM continues to maintain its tradition of returning dividends to policyholders every year since 1918. In 2020, Malone presided over the creation of the NJM Policyholder Relief Program, which returned a portion of premium payments to policyholders in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Malone joined the Company after more than 25 years in the property and casualty industry, gaining experience in areas such as strategic planning, financial reporting, marketing, field operations, and product management. In his current role, he is responsible for the Company’s financial, actuarial, and enterprise risk management departments, and he serves on the Company’s behalf on the Board of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Immediately prior to joining NJM, he was vice president and lead financial officer for Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance, where he led the company’s financial operations as well as data analytics, workforce planning, vendor management, and quality assurance. Malone began his career at Price Waterhouse (now PwC) as a member of their audit team. He subsequently held various leadership positions at Plymouth Rock Assurance Company, Next Generation Insurance Group, The Travelers Companies, Inc., and The Hartford, where his experience spanned finance, product management, field operations, and marketing.

A native of Massachusetts, Malone graduated from Villanova University with a B.S. in accounting and earned an M.B.A. in strategy from the Yale School of Management.

He and his wife, Karen, live in New Hope, Pa. They have two children.
